UGC letter no-F-I-8/2006 (CPP-II) dated Feb 2008 states the following.
"It has been impressed upon by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India that henceforth in every prospectus relating to admission of the students in any educational institution, it shall be clearly stated that if
any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him from the institution. "
